MicroStrategy Selected for Reporting and Analysis of Drug Safety Medical Information.

MicroStrategy Inc., a worldwide provider of business intelligence software, announced that following an open public procurement procedure, the European Medicines Agency has chosen the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform as its enterprise business intelligence standard. The purchase of MicroStrategy’s software and services is valued at approximately $3 million.

European Medicines Agency (EMEA), based in London, is a decentralized agency that serves to protect and promote public and animal health through the evaluation and supervision of medicines for human and veterinary use. The EMEA has a coordinating role in the evaluation and supervision of medicinal products throughout the European Union (EU) using the scientific resources of the 25 EU Member States and the three additional European Economic Area States in a network of 42 national competent authorities.

More than 40,000 users including regulators, pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals analyze safety information for drugs before and after they are introduced to the market. The MicroStrategy reporting and analysis applications will be used for the EudraVigilance database and will access pharmacovigilance data residing in an Oracle data warehouse.

“The European Medicines Agency is investing in MicroStrategy business intelligence to enhance the analyses we perform to monitor the safety of medicinal products supplied to the whole of the European Union,” said Dr. Hans-Georg Wagner, Head of Unit for Communications and Networking, European Medicines Agency. “We chose MicroStrategy through an open public procurement procedure for business intelligence products appropriate for monitoring drug safety information, because we concluded that MicroStrategy will provide us with the best solution for our needs.”

“We are pleased that the European Medicines Agency selected MicroStrategy for agency-wide reporting and analysis,” said Sanju Bansal, COO of MicroStrategy. “This deal reflects the value that MicroStrategy-based reporting, analysis and monitoring can provide public sector organizations. We look forward to supporting the European Medicines Agency in its business intelligence endeavors.”
