Pentaho a provider of open source business intelligence (BI) suite, recenlty announced general availability of Pentaho Data Integration 2.5. Formerly known as the Kettle project, Pentaho Data Integration 2.5 upgrades open source Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) project with enhanced MySQL database support, advanced error handling, and user interface updates designed to improve ETL developer productivity.
Pentaho Data Integration 2.5 now includes support for the MySQL bulk load interface, allowing for faster performance when moving large amounts of data into MySQL databases. MySQL bulk extracts are also supported for organizations that are integrating data from MySQL and other sources to load data marts and data warehouses. Pentaho Data Integration 2.5 additionally provides advanced error handling, allowing administrators to create rules for handling bad data that generates exceptions during the load process.
"This rate of evolution could only be possible in an open source model," said Matt Casters, Chief Architect for data integration at Pentaho. "We're driving the product forward to add more enterprise features, and make it easier to use at the same time. Any organization looking to improve its data infrastructure should take a few minutes to download and try it."
