Greenplum, a provider of enterprise PostgreSQL for business intelligence recently announced that Frontier Airlines has selected the Bizgres MPP data warehouse solution to enable rapid analysis of flight-related data. The deployment is part of the airline's commitment to using advanced technology to deliver world-class customer service at the lowest prices.
Frontier Airlines provides service to 47 destinations in 29 states and seven cities in Mexico. Greenplum partnered with business analytics consulting firm, Daxpy, to design and deploy a system for Frontier to quickly analyze flight data, availability and pricing – delivering the best and lowest cost routes to its customers.
"The competition is intense in the airline industry and Frontier is committed to staying ahead of the curve by leveraging technology that will help us offer the best prices and the best flight experience," said Robert Rapp, CIO, Frontier Airlines. "Bizgres MPP fits right in with our philosophy of providing world-class performance at a low price. We have been impressed by its ability to quickly analyze massive amounts of flight data while running on low cost, off-the-shelf hardware."
Bizgres MPP's unique "shared-nothing" architecture delivers breakthrough performance for complex data analysis by distributing data across a cluster of inexpensive servers, which enables unprecedented processing speeds at a low cost.
Bizgres MPP extends the capabilities of the PostgreSQL database system, already widely regarded as best-in-class for enterprise features such as transaction processing, data integrity and security. A PostgreSQL-based, software-only, clustered solution, Bizgres MPP enables organizations like Frontier to grow their data warehouse capabilities in conjunction with their needs.
