Business Objects Delivers Healthcare and Life Sciences

Originally published February 13, 2006

Business Objects, a provider of business intelligence solutions, recently announced a healthcare and life sciences offering with IBM. Together, Business Objects and IBM offer a simplified way for organizations in healthcare and life-science industry segments (HCLS) to make sense of the growing amount of data used in research and clinical environments.

As part of the integrated offering, IBM's Clinical Genomics (CG) solution is now enhanced with business intelligence capabilities from Business Objects. This solution enables HCLS companies to quickly synthesize and visualize genomic and pharmacogenomic information used in critical tasks, such as the development of new customized drug therapies and the improvement of patient diagnosis and treatment.

"Most genomics data is buried in complex data mining models that very few people can access and understand," said Robb Eklund, Vice President of industry solutions marketing at Business Objects. "The IBM CG solution can bring this data together, from wherever it may reside, with Business Objects providing rich visualization and simplified analysis for doctors and researchers who need it. Although these doctors need a degree in medicine, they won't need a degree in mathematics to use and understand the data."
