Merger Talks End Firstlogic to Remain Independent

Originally published November 14, 2005

Firstlogic, a provider of enterprise information quality solutions, recently announced that Pitney Bowes, and Firstlogic have verbally agreed not to extend their merger agreement when it expires November 15.  This will conclude Pitney’s planned acquisition of Firstlogic, which had been publicly announced September 1.

“After reviewing the Second Request for Information issued by the Federal Trade Commission, we mutually decided that it was in the best interest of all involved not to proceed further with the acquisition,” said Eric Lieberman, President of Firstlogic. “Although we are naturally disappointed in this result, we have also learned a great deal by going through this process that can make us a better company.  Our people did a great job of keeping focused on our business notwithstanding the uncertainty caused by the merger plans,” Lieberman said.  “I am excited to see how we will capitalize on this new opportunity.”
