Internal Revenue Service Selects BearingPoint

Originally published November 10, 2005

BearingPoint, a provider of global management and technology consulting firm, recently announced that it has been selected as one of 15 large firms eligible to compete four projects under the Total Information Processing Support Services (TIPSS-3) umbrella contract. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) serves as the contracting office for TIPSS-3, a multi-agency "indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity" suite of contracts valued at up to $3 billion over five years.  Individual contractors engaged for previous TIPSS opportunities have secured as much as $400 million for work over a five-year period.

TIPSS-3 is the third in a series of contracts of this nature constructed and awarded by the IRS. The contract covers three critical areas of support—Information Systems Services, Systems Security Services and Strategic Business Services—for the Department of Treasury and its bureaus, the Department of Homeland Security, and is available for other agencies wishing to utilize the contract.  BearingPoint was selected to provide both Strategic Business Services and Systems Security Services under the contract.

"With many of the Treasury Department's key IT initiatives expected to fall under the TIPSS-3 contract, we are thrilled at the opportunity to support the objectives of the department and the other agencies covered by the contract," said Brad Bends, senior Vice President for Civilian Agencies in BearingPoint's Public Services sector. "We look forward to applying our extensive experience in management consultation, security services and systems integration to assist the federal government in achieving its goals under the projects to be awarded."
