expressor software, the leader in semantic data integration, recently announced that it has signed the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute as a customer. Moffitt is using the expressor semantic data integration system to help build its new Comparative Effectiveness Research (CER) data warehouse that integrates patient, pathological, molecular and radiological data to enable the discovery of new therapy and treatment paradigms and improve the quality of cancer patient care.

“Data integration is critical to the success of our CER project, as the Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC) is gathering information on biospecimens, medical histories and outcome data for more than 50,000 cancer patients that have enrolled in MCC’s study, Total Cancer Care, at nineteen sites across the country,” said David A. Fenstermacher, PhD, Chair and Executive Director, Department of Biomedical Informatics, Moffitt Cancer Center. “expressor’s ability to rationalize the volume and variety of metadata we are integrating will enable Moffitt’s researchers to share a common language when describing symptoms, disease names and other cancer-related data to facilitate the creation of ‘effectiveness scores’ based on as many as 2,500 discrete data elements that will direct researchers to the optimal datasets to begin developing evidence-based guidelines leading to optimal treatments for each patient.”

“The expressor semantic data integration system is uniquely qualified to tackle the metadata management and data integration challenges faced by healthcare informatics providers such as Moffitt Cancer Center – making sense of obscure metadata, efficiently processing complex data and scaling to handle expanding data volumes,” said Bob Potter, president and CEO, expressor software. “We are honored to have been selected by the Moffitt Cancer Center for the CER project and committed to supporting Moffitt in its mission to contribute to the prevention and cure of cancer.”
