XtremeData a provider of large data analytics and complex computing solutions, recently announced the availability of the dbX 100 Series of desk-side analytical data warehouse appliances. Leveraging the Cray CX1 desk-side supercomputer, the new product line offers unmatched super computing price/performance for business intelligence (BI) analysts and statistical researchers in an affordable departmental-sized system package.

“This product changes the dynamics of creating multiple data marts and mitigates the long IT project cycles typically needed to solve ad hoc query performance issues for business analysts,” said Claudia Imhoff, president of Intelligent Solutions, Inc. - www.intelsols.com - a Boulder, CO-based expert on business intelligence and customer analytics. “With the dbX desk-side, analytic data marts can be created and deployed in days. Additionally, unrestricted ad hoc access is directly coupled to the BI or statistical software eliminating large data set transfers between the data warehouse and client software packages.”

The dbX family of appliances is designed specifically for the unconstrained analysis and exploration of large data sets. These products are fully integrated platforms. They are unique among competing products in leveraging the best of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Linux server offerings, while seamlessly integrating SQL acceleration. The dbX family of products continues offering an architecture providing sustainable price/performance advantages.

“XtremeData has leveraged the Cray CX1 system to make a desk-side analytic data warehouse, adding immense value,” said Ian Miller, senior vice president of the productivity solutions group and marketing at Cray. “The dbX desk-side system is the right size in performance, functionality, and cost for departmental workgroups with the need to harness high performance computing (HPC) without the complexity of traditional clusters.”

dbX 100 Series is a fully-integrated “appliance”, incorporating all the components of an analysis system: storage, computing, interconnect network and database engine. This system eliminates the significant labor costs incurred in configuration, integration, and performance tuning, resulting in quick deployment, low cost and a minimal risk development path. All methodology, processes, and analytic queries developed on the dbX 100 Series will automatically scale to the larger dbX 1000 Series system to accommodate petabytes of data.

"XtremeData has created an analytics data warehousing appliance in a form factor never before possible using the Cray CX1 system," said Ravi Chandran, CEO of XtremeData. "This brings our high performance analysis capabilities to a whole new category of users by offering immediate deployment at a highly affordable price and operational cost."
