Singlehop to Offer Cloudlinux as Part of its Cascade Cloud Platform

Originally published April 26, 2010

CloudLinux Inc., an innovative software company dedicated to serving the needs of hosting service providers, recently announced that SingleHop, a leading dedicated server and managed web-hosting provider, has begun to offer CloudLinux as one of its standard Linux Operating Systems, and as part of its new Cascade hosting system. SingleHop selected CloudLinux because of its innovative Lightweight Virtual Environment  (LVE) technology that increases density and stability when used in a dedicated server environment.
Cascade is SingleHop’s entry into cloud hosting services and products, and CloudLinux is the very first offering that the company is selling in the Cascade line-up. According to SingleHop, the current integration of cloud computing and dedicated hosting is a nascent, cumbersome, and generally expensive technology - all reasons that permeate the low adoption rates from dedicated server users. CloudLinux on the other hand, offers an excellent balance by relying on proven dedicated server technologies and implementing cloud functionalities through LVE technology, which isolates and intelligently manages server resources.
“CloudLinux is another innovative way for us to empower our customers to have total server control,” states Zak Boca, SingleHop President and CEO.  “We are committed to finding better ways to manage small business web hosting services and solutions for our clients, and the resource controls that CloudLinux provides our customers is exactly in line with our philosophy.”
The core technology behind CloudLinux OS is its Lightweight Virtual Environment a kernel-level technology that limits the amount of resources (CPU, I/O, memory) available to a group of processes. With LVE, administrators now have the tools to control the CPU and IO demands of individual tenants, so that a single site cannot slow or take down a whole server.
“SingleHop is highly focused on providing reliable and cost-effective services, and we are proud that CloudLinux will help them deliver on those commitments,” states Igor Seletskiy, CEO and Founder of CloudLinux. “Our proprietary LVE technology will enable full control and added reliability across their robust server offering.”
CloudLinux OS will provide additional benefits to SingleHop customers including:

  • Innovative lightweight and transparent LVE technology that increases server stability and performance
  • Decreased downtime
  • Ability to allocate resources to individual server tenants efficientlyIncreased control over traditional OS
  • Complete, 24/7 support
  • Compatibility with the major control panel for easy management and deployment
