Actuate Corporation, the people behind BIRT and Infobright, the open source data warehousing company, recently announced the availability of an integrated virtual machine, available for download immediately. The joint solution originated after Infobright joined Actuate’s BIRT Global Partner Connection as a BIRT Business Partner. The offering is based on Infobright’s open source analytic database and open source data visualization technology from BIRT, the top level Eclipse project founded and co-led by Actuate. With BIRT’s rich data visualizations and column-oriented analytic database and Infobright’s virtual machine, users can access and personalize as much data as they need, without sacrificing response time or interactivity.
The joint solution also benefits from being grounded in two of the largest open source communities – further expanding the reach for the deployment of this end-to-end business intelligence (BI) solution. BIRT leverages the Eclipse foundation, which with more than 3 million users is one of the most widely used integrated development environments worldwide, while Infobright is built on MySQL, the world's most popular open source database.
“We are excited to team up with Actuate to combine the power of rich information applications with our high performance analytic database,” said Miriam Tuerk, President and Chief Executive Officer Infobright. “In today’s web-based world, data volumes are growing daily and users don’t want to be limited to days or weeks worth of information. To help understand and process this immense volume of data, users demand that information be richly formatted and interactive.”
