University of Colorado Presents at IBM Cognos Forum 2009

Motio is proving it has the tools to make a difference at the University of Colorado. "In this economy MotioCI certainly has saved us time and money", says Randy MacLeod, Director of Financial Systems for the University of Colorado, "It is doing exactly what we wanted it to do." Since its installation last year, MotioCI has continuously monitored CU's reporting systems across three campuses. "We have a centralized deployment of Cognos", says MacLeod "There are three to five thousand users. Regardless of where they are MotioCI is monitoring our development."

IBM Cognos BI was deployed in the summer of 2006, and upgraded to IBM Cognos 8.2 in spring of 2008. Still, as MacLeod explains, challenges remained. "Everyone is careful, but that doesn't prevent situations from happening. It is painful to discover someone has made changes in the Cognos environment which have created errors or performance issues with other BI content. It was costing us money, to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars per event."

MacLeod and his team made the decision to add MotioCI, and the results were immediate. MacLeod says, "We added MotioCI to the picture and it seamlessly attached itself to IBM Cognos. MotioCI is an active insurance policy. It is doing exactly what we wanted it to do. This product is a mirror image of the professional work Motio does in testing and implementing all their products."

MacLeod and MotioCI product manager Roger Moore will lead a seminar at the IBM Cognos Forum 2009, May 14 in Orlando, Florida, at 10 a.m. ET outlining how MotioCI can do the same for any IBM Cognos BI environment. The seminar, "Reducing the Total Cost of Ownership of your IBM Cognos BI Implementation," will discuss some of the challenges CU faced with its Cognos BI deployment.
