Dear Information Professional,

In this issue, my lead article addresses the hot topic of data integration – what it is and what it should be. My controversial conclusion is that most people’s idea of what data integration entails is not even close to what data integration must be. Read for yourself, and let me hear from you.

There is a great deal for IQ practitioners to learn from the saga of how the usually highly reputable Consumer Reports made a huge mistake and how they are recovering from it. These are lessons you can take away and apply directly in your work.

Read and discuss IQ issues in my new IQ Blog, hosted by Informatica. Please read and comment on the issues of today. I am looking for readers to identify issues and debate ways to overcome those issues as we collectively improve the second most important resource to our enterprises.

Several TIQM certification candidates have completed all their training requirements to become certified in TIQM, the most comprehensive IQ method anywhere. Several of the students have started their practicum work, conducting TIQM assessments, cost analyses and process improvements. See events for information on upcoming training and how to register.

If you have made a good start in your IQ function, have at least part of your organization in Stage 3 maturity (IQ Enlightenment) and want to move to the next level, you are a candidate for the exclusive, by-invitation-only TIQM Summit workshop, where a maximum of 20 participants will share best practices and work on a mutual big IQ problem to identify ways to solve it. See the announcement for date and location.

To a High IQ!
