Welcome Inmon newsletter subscribers!

Bill Inmon In the first article, The Value of Eclipse for the Open Source Community, Pete Loshin discusses the Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) project. Pete maintains that BIRT is particularly useful since it contains a report designer based on the Eclipse platform and a runtime component that you can add to your own application server. He also believes that both BIRT and Eclipse will increase the popularity and usability of business intelligence applications.

In the second article, The Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, I build a case for remote backup and recovery capabilities. I also explain the benefits of data warehousing and business intelligence technology for organizations that were impacted by the disaster.

I encourage you to use the Business Intelligence Network as your premier source for information pertaining to business intelligence, performance management, data warehousing and information quality.
