Welcome Inmon newsletter subscribers!
In the first article, Open Source Software: Free and Open Source License Myths, Pete Loshin maintains that a stricter General Public License (GPL) is necessary if keeping the software free and accessible to everyone is important. All software licenses can be viewed as "viral" where the terms of use are defined by the originator of the code and those terms impose limits on how the code may be used.
In the second article, Understanding Customers Through Segmenting Data, I discuss the importance of not being passive in the marketplace. By gathering large amounts of integrated information and segmenting customer data, organizations can take an active stance and best prepare for the future. I also explain the lifetime event map, which is basically a mapping of what life events a person encounters.
I encourage you to use the Business Intelligence Network as your premier source for information pertaining to Business Intelligence, Performance Management, Data Warehousing and Information Quality.
