Whether you like it or not, change is an inevitable part of our daily existence. We change our clothes, change the radio station in the car, change our minds (probably many times a day), change our approach to a project and change our plans. There may be a change in the weather, a change (detour) on the road or a change in method of communication (laptop battery lost its charge). You get the idea – change surrounds us. Perhaps Anthony J. D'Angelo, author of The College Blue Book, best captured the essence of change when he wrote: "Become a student of change. It is the only thing that will remain constant." As you probably deduced, both articles in this newsletter address "change-related" topics.
You have undoubtedly researched the myriad benefits of performance management and are now ready to implement change at your organization. How to Choose a Tool for Performance Management, by Sanjeev Vohra, provides a systematic methodology for selecting the proper tool for performance management.
From a more global perspective, one space that seems to have wholeheartedly embraced change recently is business intelligence technology. I discuss the changing world of business intelligence and its impact in this newsletter's second article, Three Trends in Business Intelligence Technology: Perfect Storm or Perfect World? It will be interesting to observe the impact of these changes as the year progresses.
