Welcome Business Intelligence Newsletter Subscribers.

Business Intelligence Competency Centers (BICC) received a lot of attention last year. Now, many organizations are in the process of starting to set up a BICC to support their ever-growing BI environments but are having difficulty getting funding and garnering support for it. I am pleased that this week's newsletter contains an article written by my friend, Karien Verhagen of the Netherlands, in which she outlines in detail her experience in setting up a BICC up as a profit center. This change in perspective and organization circumvents many of the problems and support difficulties others have encountered. It is a well thought-out argument filled with examples and practical advice. I am sure you will find it as persuasive and compelling as I did.

Also featured in this issue is Dr. Ramon Barquin's article – Activity-Based Costing, Government and Business Intelligence.

Please continue to use the Business Intelligence Network as your premier source for information regarding business intelligence, performance management, information quality and data warehousing.

Warm regards,
