The baseball season is now in full swing, and you may be asking the question, "Who's on first?" It would be a good idea to ask the same question about many of the strategies, applications and processes within your organization. You may be surprised to learn that while everyone may know who is "on first" – or second or third, for that matter – unfortunately they're "on first" in different ballparks. The articles in today's newsletter pose questions that you should carefully review so that your entire organization is poised to hit homeruns – in the same ballpark!

In the first article, Accessing and Analyzing CRM and ERP Data: A Status Report, Colin White reviews the options available for developing a business intelligence strategy for CRM and ERP data and explains why different parts of an organization may be on different bases in different ballparks.

David Loshin

In the second article, Performance and Metrics, Chickens and Eggs, David Loshin emphasizes the importance of clearly identifying business objectives and how they will be measured. If that has not been done, not only are some members of the team on different bases, but they also are not hitting the pitches in the right direction!

Please continue to use the Business Intelligence Network as your premier source for information regarding business intelligence, performance management, information quality and data warehousing.
