Welcome to my BeyeNETWORK expert channel that will focus on reengineering healthcare using IT. The immediate catalyst for this contribution to healthcare information technology (HIT) is the challenge we as individuals and as a nation are facing in getting a healthcare system that works for everyone. Here the focus will be on "system" where business intelligence is a key part of the infrastructure that will contribute to transformation. Granted that many things might be considered broken - e.g., millions of people without access to affordable, high quality healthcare - but this channel will resist the temptation to try to "fix" things. "Fixing" keeps the conversation in the thrall of the past whereas the intention here is to create new, future-oriented possibilities. This channel is guided by the principle that a single fact is worth a thousand opinions. But facts are not isolated absolutes. Business intelligence, IT governance, and system building are critical paths to the formation of facts. We will be particularly interested in case histories, success stories, and cautionary tales of what works and what doesn't work in reengineering healthcare using IT.
