Next week Dundas is hosting a Webinar in which I’ll be speaking about “The fundamentals of dashboards and BI”. Obviously a broad topic, but one that is essential when organizations are considering business intelligence and looking at dashboards as a front-end entry point. Â Some of what I’ll be discussing is:
- an overview of the role of dashboards within BI
- the unique value proposition of dashboards and metrics management
- a look at the importance of context
- why the underlying data is important
In a recent discussion with Dundas about some of what we are seeing in the market, it became apparent that we had similar experiences with organizations approaching us with questions related to dashboards in general and wanting to understand the market. Â So although many organizations exist that have mature BI infrastructures and that understand the market quite well, others are still trying to differentiate between vendor offerings and understand what solution would best meet their business needs. Â Because so many offerings exist, there is no one stop shop in terms of the right fit. Â However, understanding the market and the benefits that can be achieved through BI and dashboard use can bring organizations one step closer to enhancing their BI environment, or alternatively selecting the right solution for their company.
