Blog: Robert S. SeinerFebruary 15, 20072007 Brings TDAN.com's 10th Anniversary (& KIK's 5th Anniversary)Somehow it is hard to believe that The Data Administration Newsletter – http://www.tdan.com - will be celebrating its 10th Anniversary in July of 2007. Sometimes it seems as though I have been publishing TDAN.com a lot less than ten years while other times I cannot recall what life was like before TDAN.com hit the web. I can honestly say that, way back when, I had no clue that the publication would gain international acceptance from the data management community. Thank you everybody (advisors, authors, readers & sponsors) for helping me to make TDAN.com what it is today. So … What is TDAN.com today? The short answer is … The publication has become one of fastest growing and most widely read publications focusing on data management. And now … TDAN.com will become even stronger with improved content management and wider exposure through a partnership with the B-Eye Network (http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2007/1/emw497556.htm). The partnership also means that I will lead my own B-Eye Network Expert Channel (coming soon!) and that I now will manage this Blog. At TDAN.com we are looking forward to a valuable partnership and a great year with many more great years to follow. Another significant milestone will be reached this year. My consultancy, KIK Consulting & Educational Services – http://www.kikconsulting.com – will celebrate its 5th Anniversary on July 1 as well. As you may (or may not know), my consulting & education business focuses on sharing, developing and delivering best practices in many aspects of Data Management including (but not limited to) my focus on Data Governance, Data Stewardship & Meta-Data program development. I have worked with many notable organizations over the past five years and the list of prestigious clientele continues to grow. FYI … Much of that experience feeds many of my articles that can be found in each issue of TDAN.com and will also feed this blog. And now the question is … What will this blog be about? This blog will be my opportunity to communicate directly with you. Therefore I am counting on you to participate in whatever way you deem appropriate. There will be times that I will pose questions that focus on the disciplines mentioned above. There will be times that I will provide insight (often opinionated) into issues and hurdles that I am faced with in my daily adventures. I will also post contentious issues from time to time that I see facing Data Managers and Data Management professionals. Since I am not a ‘techie’ (been close to 15 years since I’ve coded), you will notice that the majority of my postings will focus on business issues and business decisions surrounding Data Governance, Data Stewardship and Meta-Data Management practices. The blog will also allow individuals like you the opportunity to toss questions my way and allow me (and readers) the ability to respond. That is what this blog will be about – you and me. Look for the 10th Anniversary issue of TDAN.com to be announced on July 1. Until then, please stop back and visit this blog often (and consider marking it as a favorite). I look forward to conversing with you through this channel. Best Wishes. Bob |
