Skype this....

No Skype is not a naughty word. Its actually the name of a Luxembourg-based company Skype Technologies SA. They offer a very cool online service that allows you to make telephone calls over your computer to anywhere in the world. The technology works remarkably well and allows for calls to both computer based users and land line users. I've used the technology for a while and have found it to be reliable and useful.

The reason I'm blogging about Skype today is that Ebay appears to be in negotiations with them for a multi-billion dollar acquisition. Ebay has been looking for ways to spread their wings and with companies such as Yahoo, Microsoft and others already chatting with the owners it might be a solid move for them. I wonder if they will allow me to use Skype to call in a bid?
