Apple buys Sun Microsystems!!

UPDATE 09/08/06: VallyWag the Silcon Valley publication adds fuel to the fire with the announced departure of John Doerr influential Sun board member.

It could happen??? Well at least according to John Dvorak who wrote in his MarketWatch column this week that the recent appointment of Goggle CEO Eric Schmidt to the board of Apple is a big indication that a merger is in the works. Here are the conspiricy "facts"

  • Schmidt chooses boards seats carefully
  • His executive training began at Sun
  • Eric could bridge the gap between Steve Jobs and Jonathan Schwartz
  • Apple is looking to move into the server market and lacks the credibility
  • Sun has made recent advances thanks to Andy Bechtolsheim's awesome designs
  • Andy is an original investor in Google and a personal frined of Schmidt's
  • Apple has the marketing experience to drive the "new company"
  • The product lines are very complimentary with only low-end servers having any conflicts.

"Things that make you go hmmmmmm. Or hasn't this rumor been around for like 15 years?"
