Company to watch

Interesting flurry of news coming from San Mateo, based firm GreenPlum. It's been press release after press release the past few days. Late last week they announced that Frontier Airlines had selected the Bizgres MPP data warehouse solution for analysis of flight-related data. And then today the announcement of two key executive hires.

Mark Dunlap joined Greenplum as vice president of business intelligence and will help define BI solutions that make use of Greenplum's database products. Prior to joining the Greenplum team Mark architected the award winning BI infrastructure at Amazon.com winning Oracle's "Data Warehouse of the Year" award in 2004, and the Winter Group's Award for "Top Linux-based Data Warehouse" in 2005.

Additionally, Greenplum announced the hire of Mark Kirkwood to focus full-time on advancing PostgreSQL capabilities for BI and data warehousing through the Bizgres.org project.

Kinda makes you wonder whats next?
