Earlier this summer I chronicled my trek back home to WI. and did a little venting on the state of Wi-Fi. The part that still bothers me is how the big chain hotels see internet connectivity as a way to nickel and dime the business traveler. I just read a computerworld article that dicusses how mid-level hotels see Wi-Fi as a way to serve customers and the higher end hotels see it as a way to make up for the 50% drop in long distance phone billing that has happened since 2000 now that all of us carry cell phone.

The bottom line is that we as business travelers do have a choice when we book a room and I have started to require free Wi-Fi in any hotel I stay at. I hate it when business gets in the way of me doing business. Get a clue Hyatt, Hilton and the rest.
