I think one of the greatest parts of my job is getting to spend time with different companies and getting in-depth views of their solutions. Last week I was at Oracle Open World and today I'm back in California attending the Temtec Americas User Conference.

I attended this event last year and was really impressed with the passion and loyalty exhibited by their customers. This year’s focus is IMPACT and it fits the direction of the company quite well, they are impacting their clients, their product and the landscape of Enterprise OLAP.

Temtec customers include Papa Johns, Kroger, Mastercard, KLM, Hewlett Packard and TIAA-CREF. They are growing in a very competitive marketplace that includes Actuate, Business Objects, Cognos Inc, Hyperion, Information Builders SAP America and Siebel (soon to be Oracle).

Temtec has recently rolled out its newest version of Executive Viewer (EV) version 6.0. 6.0 makes EV easier to scale, provides greater security and more flexibility for the users.

There are several interesting things about the company that you should be aware of:

  1. 1. How well they listen to their customers; the conference has a “club” feel about. And leaves you with the impression that they have a secret solution and you don’t.

  2. 2. They are not trying to be everything to everybody they are more concerned with being great at OLAP and putting accurate information in the hands of the masses. They don’t jump on every technology buzz word that comes down the pike.

  3. 3. They seem to have solved one of the biggest barriers to BI adoption, overwhelming the user. The interface of EV 6.0 is efficient and logical.
  4. Anyway, I am sure you can tell I’m a fan of Temtec, and suggest you investigate how they might be able to help your company.
