SPSS addresses the $1 Billion a year click fraud issue

SPSS is getting involved in “Click Fraud Prevention” perhaps the biggest issues facing online advertisers today. A recent survey from the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO) found that one in five pay-per-click online advertisements are counterfeit. Estimates of the fraud range as high as $800 million in 2004 and SPSS estimates it will surpass the $1 Billion mark in 2005. SPSS’s ability to analyze user behavior patterns should put them in a strong spot to help companies with this ongoing problem. I can only hope that leading search providers hire them. Up until recently Google and others have been slow to react to this growing problem and with the backlash gaining momentum they would wise to explore what companies like SPSS are bringing to market.
