Informatica Flattens the World

If you haven't read The World is Flat, A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century by Thomas Friedman I highly recommend it.

Here is a recent review on the book fromAmazon.com:

For Friedman, cheap, ubiquitous technologies have finally obliterated all impediments to international competition, and the dawning "flat world" is a jungle pitting "lions" and "gazelles," where "economic stability is not going to be a feature" and "the weak will fall farther behind.

Its apparent that the folks at Informatica have read the book and plan on being the "Lion", I talked with John Entenmann EVP of Marketing and Strategic Alliances last week and learned that Informatica has found opportunity in the world of out-sourcing. The proliferation of out-sourcing has created a need for the service companies and customers to share and integrate information in a more timely and accurate manner. This need matches the core competencies of Informatica.

The out-sourcing market is growing faster than the IT market and most business markets. I think this focus should really benefit Informatica and puts them in a leading position in this growing industry.

Thank you for giving me the book Todd.
