Today and BI

Today I am writing this blog entry from Hong Kong. Local time it is 4:10 pm and back in Iowa it is 3:10am.

Time zones expose some of the problems of operational business intelligence. If I happen to have my corporate headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA, it is 1:10am and if I am checking the prior days sales, are sales in Asia for today mixed in with the results? Some might argue it doesn't matter, sales are displayed for the prior 24 hour period. Others may say all of the sales should be for "Monday".
