John Myers

Hey all-

Welcome to my blog. The fine folks at the BeyeNETWORK™ have provided me with this forum to offer opinion and insight into the worlds of telcommunications (telecom) and business activity monitoring (BAM). But as with any blog, I am sure that we (yes we... since blogging is a "team sport"...) will explore other tangents that intersect the concepts of telecom and BAM.

In this world of "Crossfire" intellectual engagement (i.e. I yell louder therefore I win the argument), I will try to offer my opinion in a constructive manner. If I truly dislike a concept, I will do my best to offer an alternative as opposed to simply attempting to prove my point by disproving someone else's. I ask that people who post to this blog follow in my lead.

Let the games begin....

With the iPhone 3GS barely out of the box, let the rumors of future iPhone commence…. While not liking to spread rumors, I like the analysis that Jason Ankeny has done relating to recent patents from Apple.

Two caught my eye.

  1. Fingerprint ID – This will be a great addition to my iPhone since I am horrible with passwords ( ie an idiot when it comes to remembering them… ).  This will excite the IT security guys and make life easier for folks like me… Now the question is how reasonable is this technology since I believe it has been available for years on laptops and I don’t see as many as I would imagine with that feature…
  2. RFID Reader – This one isn’t as exciting for ordinary folks…. Unless RFID chips starting hitting the store shelves in droves.  The same technology that make Wal-Mart excited about supply chain management could make advertisers salivate and grocery store shopping lists a thing of the past… However, I believe that iPhone with RFID readers will open much larger aspects of corporate use than personal use.

What do you think of these two iPhone / general smart phone improvements?
