One problem we have recently come across is that while our BI task has been supported at the highest level of the organization, no one specific person has stepped up to the plate as the one who is the main "consumer" of the BI capability we are providing. Consequently, there is constant confusion as to who is the target of our deliverables. Here is a lesson to be learned: Identify the key consumers of the BI capability and make sure that the senior manager championing the project agrees. That way, success criteria can be designed to meet the key consumers' needs and ensure ongoing acceptance. |
