SOA Repositories Come Of Age

The product category of service-oriented architecture (SOA) repositories has gained traction only in the past couple of years. Recent acquisitions across the SOA repository market demonstrate that this is a maturing product category, and that major SOA infrastructure vendors intend to provide a complete SOA solution, including SOA governance, to their clients. As a result of development and acquisition activity since early 2006, the major SOA platform vendors all have complementary SOA governance offerings. IBM, one of those vendors, also matches HP in bridging its SOA governance offerings with other IT management capabilities. This leaves LogicLibrary as the only remaining specialist vendor, at least for now. Forrester expects this initial market consolidation to be followed by a phase of internal integration and development of new features for SOA platforms, followed later by a drive toward greater interoperability and federation as IT users realize that they will inevitably have multiple SOA repositories in use.
